The Truth About Retrogrades

We need to rewrite the story of Retrogrades.

Somewhere along the way, we were told Retrogrades were things to fear—cosmic traffic jams, tech meltdowns, words twisting against us until we feel bent out of shape.

But that's only if you fight them. That's only if you refuse to see them for what they are: some of the most powerful inflection points the universe offers. Retrogrades don't come to ruin you. They come to refine you.

And this one, during Eclipse season of all times? It's fire. It's water. It's war and surrender, instinct and intuition, guts and glory. It's Mercury in Aries backtracking into Pisces, demanding that we speak our truth, then sit with its consequences.

Phase 1: Mercury in Aries (March 3, 2025)

March 3, 2025—the mind ignites. Mercury enters Aries, and suddenly, every conversation feels like a proving ground. There is no hesitation here, no need to overthink. Speech is immediate, primal, electric. Thoughts move at breakneck speed, and patience is a foreign concept. We learn through friction, through disagreement, through the fire of bold assertion. This is Mercury in Aries in its raw form—quick-witted, competitive, a rebel's tongue made of steel.

But on March 14, Mercury stations retrograde, and the battlefield shifts.

Phase 2: Mercury Retrograde in Aries (March 14-28, 2025)

Words that once cut through the noise begin to echo back at us. The ideas we rushed into now demand revision. Conversations we thought were finished reopen like old wounds, still burning beneath the skin. This is where Aries learns its greatest lesson: you cannot move forward without first looking back. Every fight, every declaration, every impulsive decision made in the first weeks of March is now under review. But this is not punishment—it is precision. You are being given a chance to wield your voice not just with force, but with mastery.

Then, on March 28, Mercury leaves Aries and falls backward into Pisces.

Phase 3: Mercury Retrograde in Pisces (March 28-April 7, 2025)

What happens when the birth of fire is plunged into the holiest of waters? When sharpness is met with softness? When the battlefield becomes a dreamscape? Mercury in Pisces does not fight—it feels. It drifts through the subconscious, gathering feelings once lost, whispering half-forgotten truths. Logic dissolves. Words become poetry, fluid and intangible. The certainty we clung to in Aries slips between our fingers, asking us:

  • Did you mean what you said, or did you just need to be heard?

  • Were you fighting for truth, or just for control?

  • What was the point of all that fire, if it was only to burn yourself in the end?

This is not a test of speed or strength. This is a test of trust. Can you sit in the unknown without panicking? Can you let your intuition guide you, even when the path is unclear? Can you stop trying to force clarity and instead let it find you in its own time?

Phase 4: Mercury Direct in Pisces (April 7-15, 2025)

On April 7, Mercury stations direct in Pisces. We wake from the dream, but the air is still thick with memory. Words return, but they are different now—softer, wiser, touched by something deeper than impulse. There is no need to rush. Mercury is still moving through Pisces, still teaching us to listen with more than just our ears. But the fog is beginning to lift, and a new kind of certainty is forming. One not built on aggression, but on understanding.

Then—April 15. Mercury re-enters Aries.

Phase 5: Mercury Returns to Aries (April 15, 2025)

This is the return you’ve been waiting for. But this is not the same Aries energy we started with. This is not raw, unfiltered speech. This is refined assertion. This is confidence sharpened by introspection. This is knowing not just when to speak, but how to make it land.

The lessons of Pisces don't disappear—they become the fuel for a sharper, more effective mind. Now, you know when to fight and when to yield. You know which battles are worth it and which ones were never yours to begin with. Most importantly, you own your words. You no longer speak just to be heard—you speak because you know what you're saying, and you know it matters.

The Gift of Retrograde

This is the truth about retrogrades. They don't break you. They don't block you. They build you. They give you the gift of revision, the power to not just move, but to move with awareness.

So when Mercury slows, don't fear it. Use it to your best advantage. Because by the time it moves forward again, so will you—stronger, clearer, and utterly unstoppable.

Mercury Retrograde Survival Guide for All 12 Signs

How to Use This Guide: Know Your Chart, Know Yourself

When reading this, check your rising sign first. Why? Because Mercury’s Retrograde motion moves through houses, and your rising sign determines where this story unfolds in your life. Then, check your Sun and Moon—because how you experience it mentally (Sun) and emotionally (Moon) will add layers of meaning. And if you want to go even deeper? Look at your Mercury sign—because it’s a direct hit to how your mind operates.

But no matter your sign, the most important thing is this: before worrying about external chaos, look at yourself. Retrogrades are reflections. They don’t happen to you—they reveal what’s already been happening within you.

So, with that in mind, let’s get into it.
